ULD Copenhagen

Danish Design is not only about minimalism and functionalism. It has always been about materials and tactility too. ULD Copenhagen aims to blend all the qualities and features of Danish Design with wool as a modern and versatile material.

The Many Advantages of Wool as a Fabric

We humans have used wool as a fabric for centuries. Highlighting all the qualities of this material, we wish to revive the idea that wool is just as appropriate as a base layer fabric as it is for thick knitted sweaters and beanies.

Apart from being thermally insulating, wool has several hygienic properties which in turn have great advantages for your ULD Copenhagen products. Wool is moisture wicking, meaning that the material transports sweat away from your skin. Furthermore, it is also odor resistant and these two properties mean that you don’t have to wash wool products as warm and as often as wool blends or cotton. This will save the environment from unnecessary harm and make your ULD Copenhagen products last even longer.

The wool we use is Mulesing free because we believe that happy sheep produce the best wool, and because we all hold a great responsibility for the animals who provide for us. The dye we use is OEKO-TEX® and REACH certified. The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificate confirms the human-ecological safety of textile from all stages of production along the textile value chain, ensuring that you are not exposed to any harmful substances from our products. The OEKO-TEX® system provides the - among others - following components:

  • Globally uniform and scientifically-based (textile and human ecologically relevant) test criteria.
  • Annual re-evaluation and development of the stipulated limit values and criteria.
  • Testing and certification of the textile products through independent test institutes with the relevant expertise.
  • Testing of textile raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of processing.
  • Product conformity through internal quality management within the companies.
  • Product monitoring by means of regular control tests in the market and site inspections by independent auditors from OEKO-TEX® Association.

The REACH Certificate Program offers traceability of compliance. REACH stands for the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. The main aims of REACH are to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, the promotion of alternative test methods, the free circulation of substances on the internal market and enhancing competitiveness and innovation. REACH makes the industry responsible for assessing and managing the risks posed by chemicals and providing appropriate safety information to us a makers and to you as consumers.
